The initial years of the American Connemara Pony Society were chronicled in the first four volumes of the “American Connemara Pony Stud Book.” These hard-covered books spanned three years each and combined the secretary’s official notes with the few rules of the society and the ponies registered during the years covered. Volume 2 of the American Connemara Pony Stud Book covered the years of 1959-1961 and was published in 1962. By this point, the society had expanded in structure and participation, and ponies were spreading across the United States and competing in more competitions. Read more

Volume 3 of the “American Connemara Pony Stud Book” covered registrations for the years of 1962 to 1964 and was published in 1965. Total registered fullbred Connemaras (excluding temporary foal certificates) had increased to 489 for the first three volumes—up from 271 in Volumes 1 and 2. Read more

The fourth stud book was the largest ever, with 214 fullbred Connemaras and 25 halfbreds. It raised the total fullbreds registered since the ACPS’ inception to 703. It also introduced America’s ban on registration of blue-eyed cream Connemaras — a ban that lasted until 2016. Read more
