Known as Fergie, the bay thoroughbred mare (1983, out of Jackolean by Real Value) was purchased off the track in Arizona after she suffered a physical injury.

She had one foal for Kerrymor Farm, a mare named Kerrymor’s True Colors, but the birth was complicated, and Fergie ultimately didn’t survive.

If ever a horse won our hearts for grace and courage in the face of adversity, it was this lovely mare, who deserved so much more out of life.

True Colors was named to carry on the spirit of her dam.
