Hideaway Bay

Hideaway Bay in 1981 at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show.

The 16-hand bay mare (1970, out of *Erinbay, sometimes written *Erin Bay, by *Blagdon Silver Gilt) was a beautiful mover (see video) and athletic hunter/jumper, and she passed those qualities on to her foals. Her performance career was cut short by a shoulder injury.

Heidi’s offspring for Kerrymor Farm were Kerrymor Finbarr, Kerrymor Madison, Kerrymor Amber Waves and Kerrymor Teatime.

Her other foals before joining Kerrymor Farm were Hideaway’s Centerfold, dam of at least 20 offspring, including Hideaway’s Erin Go Bragh, Hideaway’s Hustler, Hideaway’s Legacy and Hideaway’s Celebration; and Hideaway’s Saving Grace, a half-Thoroughbred.

Heidi won the ACPS Broodmare Award in 2025.

Given Centerfold’s 20 offspring, plus the 53 offspring of Madison and the 225 offspring of grandson Go Bragh, Heidi contributed greatly to the American Connemara landscape.

Heidi’s dam, *Erinbay, 14 hands, was by Little Heaven (TB) out of Glen Nellie (by Gil) and born in 1951. She was imported to the US by the Murchisons of Texas in the early 1950s, before the ACPS was founded in 1956.

Heidi’s sire, *Blagdon Silver Gilt, 14 hands, was by Wisbridge Golden Rebel out of Silver Lining (by Carna Bobby) and born in 1964. He was imported from England to the US by Hideaway Farm and registered in 1968.
